SEMINARS OF THE ELDERLY
These seminars are intended to develop a viable
support network for the elderly. In all the seminars,
the main objective is the prevention of loneliness,
which causes so many mental and physical problems.
Our talks allow the spaces for dialogue and reflection
so that older people can have the opportunity to
express themselves and be heard.
Our activities are aimed for the elderly community and
are focused on providing quality educational,
psychosocial talks that promote their well-being and
learning, while keeping them active and involved with
their community.
The mental health of older adults can be improved by
promoting active and healthy habits. By creating
environments that increase well-being and encourage
people to adopt healthy and integrated lifestyles.
The activities can be planned according to the three
main objectives linked to active ageing: promoting
physical well-being, strengthening cognitive and
emotional well-being, and promoting social-relational
well-being.
Physical well-being
● One of the important aspects is to seek physical well- being. This can be favored from two main areas: nutrition and physical exercise.
Emotional psychic-cognitive well-being
● This includes a series of strategies to promote brain
plasticity and cognitive functions. This can be done
precisely through cognitive training, which includes
techniques for handling information such as the
following:
● Teaching relaxation.
● Attention and concentration training.
● Exercises in abstract reasoning and verbal fluency.
● Information categorization, ordering and
classification tasks.
● Problem-solving activities at different levels of
difficulty.
● Activities that encourage curiosity and creativity.
● Emotional training, the strengthening of self-esteem,
the development of skills necessary for assertive
communication, the prevention of depression and
other discomforts associated with old age.
Socio-relational well-being
These activities are intended to promote cordial
relationships, maintain social contact and increase
interpersonal connections. These help to counteract
feelings of loneliness and prevent discomfort. In the
same way they can strengthen socio-adaptive skills.
